Sparkle paint is my new favorite

This is where I'm at with the holder for my lights. Hoping to get a lot of work done tomorrow in studio.

Welding 101

(My boyfriend freaked a little when he read this title as WEDDING 101)

Today we learned how to weld. After being in a fire when I was 11, I'm not the biggest fan of fire and flames. Although I did like the thrill of grinding the metal, the sparks definitely freaked me out.

For the final project: I used some of the saws to cut wood into different shapes, sanded it by hand, and then used a silver glitter paint on the wood. I am going to nail the pieces together, and then put the eggs and cans on the different shelves.

Absent

Today I was absent from class. BUT, I did do some web research and took a trip to Radio Shack.

Two bananas and an apple

Two bananas and an apple. I wish I could have captured my teachers shocked outburst to find that I had finished after class. "I thought it was gonna be really sad and it's actually kind of good."

Apples?

So, when I went in to work on this sculpture, I found that the rest of the class had basically finished theirs. This is mine in comparison to another students. Really, I find it quite difficult to tell which one belongs to the grad student who is living off of coffee. See if you can spot the difference.

RECITAL DAY

So, today was my masters harp recital. I realize this has nothing to do with sculpture, but since it fell on a Tuesday, and is what I have been preparing for (basically for the last year or more), I thought I should mention it. My parents came into town, and I think that overall the recital went extremely well.
