Sometimes Life Happens, and All you can do is drink

Although it might not seem like anything grand, I actually really like how this turned out. It's not the functional art that I had first envisioned, and it's not the completely project I had in my mind, but I like the way it ended up. The bottlecaps were a difficult material to work with. I tried smashing them flat, which the hammering actually really hurt my arms for the next few days. This wouldn't have been such a big deal, except that with being a musician I am constantly worried about injury to my hands and arms, and had to take a couple days off of practicing. Also, I mainly used hot glue to hold the caps together. Aside from a few tiny burns to my fingers, the main problem was that the glue didnt give the caps the rigid shape I was looking for. Instead, it was flexible, which is how I was able to create the tail coming off the creature.

I also really liked the idea of writing the title on the bag which was incorporated into the work. I feel like I also put a lot of thought into the design of the caps, such as the alternating colors of the Abeita caps and the alternating pictures/phrases cap tail.

It also probably seems like I gave up on this project. Considering the week I had, I'm proud to say that I didn't. I have been working from 4pm-midnight every day this week, and taking care of my mother who is still having difficulty moving. Not to mention finding a rental car and giving insurance testimonials. I came into work on this project a few days outside of class before the accident, and I came in outside of class after as well.
